Domestic Violence

The Center for Disease Control says that 38% of victims of domestic violence are men.[1] In the southeast Michigan tri-county area, 25% of reported domestic violence cases in 2005 involved men as victims. In Washtenaw County, a full one third of the victims in 2005 were men. These numbers are probably skewed to the downside because men are far more likely to “take it like a man” than call the police. Nobody wants to call the cops and say “My girlfriend just took a chunk out of my arm.”  Women, on the other hand, are being rewarded for accusing their partners of violence.  That's why 80% of the domestic violence cases that end up in court are initiated by women.

When a relationship ends, and money is at stake, women can abuse the criminal process for an advantage. You don’t think you should pay alimony?  You can be looking at a personal protection order to throw you out of your own house. You think this is a simple divorce until you find yourself in the back seat of a police car explaining yourself on a domestic call.
